On this edition of 30 on 3D, learn how to do an advanced part sectioning in Materialise Magics. In our example, we’ll use a custom cutting tool to create a mating part with features alignment.
First, select “Cut or Punch” from the toolbar. In the popup menu, select “Indicate Polyline.” From here, you can draw a polyline across a part and make specific cuts.
From this polyline, you can add a line with teeth on it and mating features. In the “Select Teeth Line(s)” popup you can format the style of your teeth, from triangle to square to jigsaw. To ensure a unique mating feature, you can apply a clearance to the cut.
Once you hit “Apply” you will notice that your part is cut and ready to print, with the clearance you specified in place.
