…And maybe it doesn’t hurt to have decadent appetizers, delicious spirits, and authentic Italian ice (yep, we sure did) making their way around the showroom all evening. After all, we happen to think world class 3D printing, precision milling machines and ground breaking 3D modeling software pairs well with a cup of lemon squeezy Italian ice and live music delivered by a very talented singer!
Now, for those of you who are unaware of Purple Platypus’ history, Purple Platypus has been in business since 2007. However, we’ve had quite a few new changes… And sure, we could’ve just sent out another newsletter, but here at Purple Platypus, it’s go big or go home!
In the days leading up to the big celebration, we posted sneak peeks of some of the new changes in the showroom. One of the new changes stands proud right as guests walk through our doors. A grand (45” W x 63” H) mosaic 3D art piece on our wall designed by none other than our talented Senior R&D Engineer, Cameron Williams and CEO, Mark Swart. A definite showstopper for the night, the art piece was creatively designed for business owners to promote their own branding, using their own logo, image, or message in an infinite combination of color, shape and size options. The piece was fabricated at Purple Porcupine using an Objet 260 Connex 3.
So far this year Purple has fortified it’s showroom with 3 of Stratasys’ newest technology offerings. The Connex3 260, for simultaneous color and multi material printing, the Eden 260VS, which features soluble solution for effortless creation of ultra-fine features and geometries, and the Fortus 450mc, the fastest and most capable FDM printing platform to date. Having all 3 of Stratasys’ latest technologies lets us bring our customers together with the most capable creation machines in history, all in one convenient location.
And speaking of location, our showroom got a complete makeover! If you’ve been to Purple Platypus before, you’ll now notice a little switcheroo with our offices and conference room. Also, our reception area now features a custom designed natural wood table sitting on top of an FDM-printed geometric pedestal with is a PolyJet-printed lattice art piece on top.
The main showroom also includes new displays for our Roland Precision Milling Machines and Spaceclaim 3D Modeling Software. The new Roland display features impressive samples which contain intricate details and the monoFab SRM-20, a well-packaged desktop CNC machine which includes Roland’s acclaimed simple programming interface. Our Spaceclaim display allows our visitors to get a hands-on demo and interact with dynamic 3D modeling software featuring non-parametric capabilities which untie the hands of the designer. And of course, our main showroom is where you’ll find the region’s largest display of Stratasys 3D printers. In an all new separate showroom we feature the largest Roland Milling machines which are capable of creating amazing detail in a multitude of plastic, wood and metal materials.
And just like that! One team embarked on a journey that left guests with impressive knowledge, a full stomach and a happy heart! Sounds like it was a mission well accomplished! Check out highlights in our YouTube video!
