For May’s part of the month, we’re switching it up. Instead of focusing on a specific part, Matt DeGroat, Service Bureau Manager, has decided to focus on a material: LOCTITE 3D IND3380 ESD.
What is LOCTITE 3D IND3380 ESD?
LOCTITE 3D IND3380 ESD is the latest material to be validated on the Origin. This material’s ESD qualities help prevent electrostatic damage, it is wear-resistant and long lasting, and resistant to high temperatures (>200 degrees Celsius).
ESD stands for electrostatic discharge, which is the release of static electricity when two objects come in contact. Using ESD-safe materials is critical in environments like electronics manufacturing, where uncontrolled static discharge can damage sensitive components.
What sets this material apart from the rest is its electrostatic discharge protection. Why would you need this quality in a material?
LOCTITE 3D IND3380 ESD is a high-temperature resistant resin for ESD-safe tooling in electronic manufacturing, assembly, rework, and repair. It’s perfect for precise, parts with smooth finishes that Matt describes as “almost looking like they’re injection molded.”
LOCTITE 3D IND3380 ESD is ideal for applications like:
- ESD-safe work holding tools and handling trays
- ESD shielding components for military and aerospace
- High-temperature-resistant electrical enclosures
- ESD-safe sensors and control housings
- Aerospace and automotive electronics enclosures
