August’s Part of the Month was chosen by Systems Supervisor, Jason Brown. Jason chose a finger model made from Stratasys’ TissueMatrix material due to its eerily realistic traits. The Digital Anatomy material creates biomechanically realistic parts. Having worked in 3D printing for over a decade, Jason blown away by how far medical modeling has come. He says, “The material feels very realistic and very creepy at the same time. But [it has] a lot of good applications.”
Jason thought that the part was interesting since when he first touched it, “it was almost uncomfortable because it felt so realistic. Like you were really touching something that was made from tissue.”
The applications of TissueMatrix in the medical industry have been proven to help students and doctors alike. Printing models and “having that life-like tissue feel mixed with BoneMatrix [creates] perfect practice models for surgeons.” Now doctors can set their patients’ minds at ease by showing them exactly what they will be doing, and that is something truly special to AM.
With their Digital Anatomy materials, Stratasys is achieving an incomparable level of realism. And there’s still a lot to look forward to. The recent release of RadioMatrix, a radiopaque material that appears on X-rays or CT scans, marks the next step of Stratasys’ innovation.
Our team is looking forward to seeing how the J850 Digital Anatomy Printer continues to improve the medical field. To learn more about your printer options, or their applications, stop by our office or call us at 949.474.9222.
