Pittsburgh, We Are Here!

June 28, 2022 By Alex Goldsberry

Purple Porcupine 3D printing has officially expanded to Pittsburgh, PA!  We chose The Steel City for a specific reason, to share our expertise in 3D printing while delivering the same high-quality service for 3D printed parts as our customers in Southern California and Arizona.

You may think of 3D printing as exclusive to high-end anatomical models, toys, and architectural models. While 3D printing is a good fit for those applications, it’s not limited to them. The day-to-day of 3D printing consists of applications for manufacturing, inspection tooling, mock-ups, and end-use aerospace parts. Our team at Porcupine has an extensive background in engineering and can help determine solutions for just about any application.

We are no fools to think that just because we are in the area that you and your team would want to discuss with us further, so I would like to provide some answers to general questions you may be asking yourself:

Why does Purple Porcupine want to help?
Our goal is to educate manufacturing and design teams on the capabilities of 3D printing technologies so companies/design engineers can leverage the technology in the most-effective way possible.

How does Purple meet these goals?
Simple answer: through communication. By discussing the end-goals and application for a project, we can dial in the printing material, technology, and parameters that will best address each individual part’s requirements.  With a 3-5 day standard production lead time, we are able to turn around parts quickly, speeding up the design & manufacturing process for engineering teams.

How is Purple different from the rest?
Our manufacturing and sales teams are comprised of engineers by both education and experience, not just businessmen leading an engineering and manufacturing company. We are not a team that just takes a 3D modeling file, pushes “START” and says, “Here is the result.”

What services/technologies can Purple provide?
Just about every 3D printing technology there is; PolyJet, FDM, SLA, SAF, MJF, DLP, and post-processing solutions. We also offer CAD Design and Engineering services if needed.

To learn more about our services, click here.

If interested, it would be great to set up a 10-15 minute meeting (Teams or in-person) to discuss your company’s current prototyping and manufacturing requirements. To contact us, send an email to [email protected] or give a call to 412.206.1760. If your team has 3D modeling files ready, we could also start discussing with a specific part in mind. You can submit your files here.

Meet Alex Goldsberry

Meet Purple Porcupine Sales Engineer and East Coast Division Leader, Alex Goldsberry. Alex focuses on bringing value to customers through his knowledge of manufacturing, engineering, and 3D printing technology.

Some fun facts about Alex include: he was flying over SoFi Stadium as the Rams won the last Super Bowl, he lived in Singapore for 3 years as a child, and he read each of the Harry Potter books in a single day as they came out (yes, even the first one, when he was five years old).

Alex is extremely knowledgeable about 3D printing and does an incredible job at helping customers find the right fit for their application. If you haven’t had the chance to meet Alex yet, be sure to connect with him on LinkedIn!
