3D Printing at Heli-Expo
Heli-Expo, the largest international helicopter expo, just came to California and Purple Platypus 3D printing did not go unnoticed. Â Among the huge platforms of helicopter manufacturers, Bell Helicopter, Sikorsky, Airbus Helicopters, and Augusta Westland, many attendees were also talking about the latest 3D printing and milling capabilities offered by Purple Platypus.
According to Matt Thurber, a writer for the Aviation International News, the interestingly-named Purple Platypus is not exactly what one would expect to see at a helicopter convention, but their 3D printing products certainly represent the latest technology. Showcasing a Stratasys Fortus 3D printer, capable of printing real thermoplastic materials, a Roland MDX-40A benchtop mill, and SpaceClaim’s 3D direct modeling software, attendees were able to learn more about how to implement these technologies into their product development cycle.
