Objet Partner Ranked No. 10 with Nearly 400 Percent Revenue Growth in Last Two Years
SANTA ANA, CA, October 24, 2011 – Purple Platypus, the top reseller of 3D printers from industry leader Objet Ltd., has been ranked No. 10 on the Orange County Business Journal’s list of the Top 100 Fastest-Growing Private Companies in Orange County. This is Purple Platypus’ first appearance on the list.
The Southern California-based company – which serves the medical technology, automotive and toy industries, among others – experienced a two-year revenue growth of 392 percent. In addition to this dramatic revenue increase, the company expanded from just two employees in 2009 to seven in 2011.
“It’s truly an honor to have achieved a top ten placement on this list which includes so many other flourishing businesses in our area,” said David Cox, president of Purple Platypus. “The growth we have experienced in the past two years demonstrates that our diverse client base is eager to advance their innovative concepts and develop exceptional products quickly and efficiently – a win for all.”
Established in 2007 by industry veteran David Cox, Purple Platypus markets, sells and services 3D printing systems and supplies, including the Objet Desktop, multi-material Connex and Eden family of 3D printers. These advanced 3D printing systems meet customers’ prototyping needs by promoting faster design cycles. Purple Platypus also offers scanning and milling machines from Roland DG and SpaceClaim software.
Much of the growth in the 3D printing industry is attributed to low-cost systems such as the Objet desktop entry level 3D printers sold by Purple Platypus. According to Wohlers Report 2011 – the annual global study on the additive manufacturing (AM) and 3D printing industry from Wohlers Associates, Inc. – the compound annual growth rate of revenues produced by all AM products and services in 2010 was 24.1 percent; in 2009, the industry experienced a 9.7 percent decline.
