Talk about a glow up...
The Fortus 450mc was built to last, which is why it has been around for 10 years. And after those first installations 10 years ago, 92% of the printers are still producing parts! It has been a solid solution for customers’ manufacturing workflows, but it is time for some “newness.”
Besides its sleek look, what else is new about the Fortus 450mc? In this third generation of the 3D printer, Stratasys wanted to focus on four main upgrades: simplified tooling, exceeding demanding timelines, a wider application portfolio, and even higher part consistency.
With these updates, the “new” Fortus 450mc can minimize cost, increase uptime, and improve accuracy and reliability, making it a true factory floor solution.
Simplified Tooling with AI-Driven Design Automation
The Fortus 450mc is now paired with GrabCAD Print Pro (GCPP) and trinckle’s fixturemate—an AI-powered automation tool for fixture design. fixturemate shifts fixture creation from a specialized, CAD-intensive process to a streamlined point-and-click workflow, reducing design time by up to 90%. This accessibility enables team members with little to no CAD experience to create functional jigs and fixtures in minutes. Seriously, it’s so easy I can do it… and I’m in marketing.
Early adopters are already realizing measurable value:
92%
reduced design time
<1 hour
onboarding time
6x ROI
>€100,000 saved
From 2–4 hours in CAD to under 20 minutes using fixturemate.
Enabling facility-wide fixture design and accelerating AM adoption.
Through integrated use of fixturemate and Fortus printers.
Meeting Accelerated Production Schedules
Stratasys’ Streamline Pro software now supports the Fortus 450mc, consolidating multiple workflows into a single platform that connects operators, printers, and part data. It enables intelligent job scheduling, minimizes manual intervention, and enhances productivity with built-in automation and upgraded cybersecurity. The result: higher throughput, reduced operator time, and minimal downtime.
Available coming soon: Nylon 12CF will have faster printing capabilities—ideal for applications requiring aluminum-like mechanical performance for rapid part turnaround.
Expanded Application Versatility
With a variety of production-grade thermoplastics, the Fortus 450mc supports high-performance applications across aerospace, automotive, industrial, and consumer product sectors. The printer’s material portfolio includes high-strength, chemically resistant, and flame-retardant options (including V-0 and FST-rated materials), making it suitable for functional prototypes, end-use parts, and strong but lightweight tools.
Additional capabilities include support for OpenAM software, allowing advanced users to fine-tune process parameters, unlock new material capabilities, or develop custom material profiles—further expanding the platform’s flexibility for R&D and production alike.
Also coming soon: PA6,66 FR LS, a glass-filled, flame-retardant nylon material designed for increased mechanical strength and durability in heavy-duty environments. And rPET GF, a new recycled filament made from recycled PET waste and filled with glass fibers, great for end-use applications.
Enhanced Part Quality and Consistency
The updated Fortus 450mc is now compatible with the Fortus FDC (Filament Drying Cabinet). This material drying unit ensures optimal moisture control for materials like ULTEM™ 9085 and Nylon 12CF, significantly reducing print variability, minimizing scrap, and improving mechanical performance.
The combination of the Fortus FDC and fixturemate will ensure high-quality, mechanically strong parts.
