2021 was a whirlwind of a year, full of incredible product announcements, new 3D printing capabilities, and growth. We’re excited for what 2022 has in store, but want to take some time to appreciate 2021. Check out our year, in review.
Â
January
Ready to get to work, we were happily surprised by Stratasys’ first announcement of the year. They revealed that they were acquiring Origin, which I was excited to hear because P3 had produced some insane results (and still does!).
Â
February
Stratasys came out and hit us back-to-back with announcements. In the second month of the year, they let us know that they had acquired a new line of printers, the Neo450s and Neo800. The Neo line is SLA technology, achieving superior surface-finish, accuracy, and detail.

March
With St. Patrick’s Day taking place, our team at Purple celebrated using the ProtoMAX. We put the machine to the test, cutting a four-leaf clover out of a phone for a 30 on 3D.
Â
April
Stratasys was out here showing us their stuff this month by launching the H350, F770, and Origin One. This made April a month of hectic marketing efforts and ecstatic sales members.
Â
May
We decided to show off the top capabilities of Materialise Magics with our Senior Sales Engineer, Gabriel Suppes. The video still holds true today, so go check it out!
Â
June
We had our first in-person open house since the COVID-19 lockdown started in 2020. The indoor/outdoor event showed off the new Stratasys H350. It also gave our team a chance to show off the new production area of our showroom. If you still managed to avoid seeing it, we’d love to show you around.
Â
July
Another great month for machines! Purple became a reseller for the new W7500 printer by Onulis. The W7500 is an affordable solution to disposing of used and expired PolyJet, SLA, and DLP resin. We’re excited about its applications!
Â
August
Purple hosted the Experience Stratasys tour, not just once, but three times in California. Customers visiting the mobile showroom in San Diego, Irvine, and Los Angeles were able to have their first in-person glance at the Origin One (plus some other incredible parts).
Â
September
Everyone was excited to hear that an Open Materials License was coming to the Stratasys Origin One! This meant that third parties could develop and use materials on the printer. Throughout the year, Stratasys built on P3 technology, expanding customer applications.
Â
October
The Experience Stratasys tour bus made its way to Arizona, where we hosted events in Phoenix and Tucson. Our team truly enjoyed showing off the showroom’s parts in the chilly 85˚ Arizona Fall weather.
November
Our Origin One printer arrived just in time for our November Open House. The event was a blast, and we were all blown away by the printer’s capabilities.
Â
December
New month, new machine! The Stratasys J35 Pro arrived at our Irvine showroom, where we placed it directly insight of its older sibling, the J55 Prime.
Â
2021 felt like a blur of a year, even so, it was an enjoyable one. Our team continues to learn and grow with each passing year, and we thank you for your support in 2021. Everyone here at Purple is looking forward to another great year in 2022!
