On this edition of 30 on 3D, our Senior R&D Engineer, Cameron Williams, talks about etching, a recently released capability on the ProtoMAX Waterjet. Etching is a new option, which can be assigned to any segment within a cut. It is available in the ProtoMAX software, under the quality menu.
Etching allows you to utilize your ProtoMAX in more ways, easing the process of labeling parts and putting design details on the surface of a part. An etch removes some of the part surface, without cutting all the way through the material. Etching can be done to any of the materials that you cut normally on the ProtoMAX.
