Maximize 3D Printing Opportunities with Triple Jetting Technology

September 10, 2014 By Talena Graham

Once again, Stratasys is giving designers and manufacturers more options to shape the way things are made with the introduction of its new Objet500 Connex1 and Objet500 Connex2 Multi-material 3D Printers. The new 3D printers combine multiple materials and high throughput for prototyping and production tooling using Stratasys’ unique triple jetting technology.

connex-launch

The Objet500 Connex Multi-material 3D Printer has a large build envelope and the high material capacity to enable users to 3D print sizable parts or many small to medium parts all in one automated job

Stratasys triple-jetting technology allows users to build products with up to three different materials in a single run, or even mix multiple material droplets to form new digital materials such as tough Digital ABS. This unique digital materials technology exponentially increases the user’s range of 3D printing material options, allowing them to create acutely accurate models and prototypes in house, as well as production tooling, mold cores and cavities for short-run injection molding.

More About the Objet500 Connex1 and 2

The Objet500 Connex1 3D Printer by Stratasys comes equipped with a large build envelope and can produce parts from three diverse materials in a single production run. This allows users to create assemblies with components formed from three different materials, or it can produce components that contain both rigid and flexible materials, such as rubber-like Tango and rigid Vero material.

Connex1 3D Printer

The Objet500 Connex1 Multi-material 3D Printer improves throughput by doubling material capacity and increasing unattended run time
It’s bigger material cabinet contains eight cartridges, meaning a longer unattended run time and fewer material changeovers than previous models. Hot swapping – or reloading material and support cartridges during a production run – allows for continuous part production. Multi-material 3D printing achieves in a single, automated build, pieces that otherwise would require hand assembly from multiple print jobs.

The Objet500 Connex2 Multi-material 3D Printer can create injection molds using Digital ABS
The Objet500 Connex2 Multi-material 3D Printer enables users to combine transparency, durability and flexibility in one 3D printed part. Combining all the features of the Objet500 Connex1, the Objet500 Connex2 also offers the ability to combine droplets from two base materials to produce new materials or “Digital Materials.”

Connex2 - Injection Molds

Digital ABS, a digital material combination, demonstrates the enormous benefits for manufacturers. It is the most durable material available for the Stratasys PolyJet process and is often used to produce molds, cores and cavities for short-run injection molding.
