This month’s Part of the Month was chosen by Senior Sales Engineer, Gabe Suppes. Gabe picked an ABS-CF10 alignment fixture, printed off an F123 Series printer, for the impressive properties of the material.
“When I show customers this part, they can feel how strong and durable it is, which gets them excited about how they can utilize the material in their workflow,” says Gabe. The part was printed in 15 hours and 40 minutes with a solid infill, making it feel like a machined aluminum part. It has a curved contour that is easily printable, along with a serialized number imprinted on the side and reinforced features. ABS-CF10 was chosen for this part because its rigidity properly aligns components during assembly, while also being easy to use.
“ABS-CF10 is the most successful FDM material ever launched in Stratasys history,” Gabe says. Compared to Nylon 12CF, ABS-CF10 has a much lower cost and barrier to entry. It’s a great replacement for machined aluminum tooling given its weight and durability. The material has 10% chopped fiber which results in 15% stronger and 50% stiffer parts than standard ABS. And it can be printed with soluble support. It is compatible with all F123 Series and F123CR Series 3D printers.
Thanks to ABS-CF10 and the F123 Series, manufacturing is becoming more streamlined and efficient. To learn more about your printer or material options, stop by our office or give us a call at 949.474.9222.
